LOL. I don't want them that badly. I would really like them, but I am not willing to pay thousands for them. That's just me. Beautiful birds!

Hi! If you just want birds that *look like* Cemani, I have large-ish black-skinned birds here. They are not 'a breed', just blue/black black-skinned birds. They are mostly pea-ish combed , but there are some black-skinned single combed birds. I hesitated to mention them in this thread because I wouldn't want anyone to think I was trying to pass them off as Cemani.

They really are neat looking! Is the one in the 3rd picture molting or are some naked necks?

Hi! It's a naked neck. They are all from my 'Build-A-Buzzard' project, aka my giant dark-skinned naked neck project.
I think they are growing into some really neat-looking birds. I can hardly wait for the girls to start laying so I can get on with the project.

What cool birds!

So really,? nobody has these elusive Ayam Cemani in the us????

Does anyone else know how to get in touch with Thomas Naegele???

I think a project all black mutt bird would be cool!

part silkie/sumatra/ayman cemani &what else... anybody?

Hmmmm...I think it depends on what it is that you want them to look like in the end result.

If it was my project I would probably go with the best, darkest sumatras I could find and then breed in some black large fowl Old English Game, or some other similar single combed bird. The Sumatra would give the dark skin and and a bit of game influence, and the OEG would contribute the single comb which is what the cemani seem to have. I believe from the little I've read about them the 'silkie' type feathering is more due to inbreeding and poor feather quality than actual silkie type feathers. I would try to stay away from anything that had white earlobes as that would be very hard to breed out. You would also want to keep hard feather type, so I would stay away from silkie influence for that reason...not to mention the multiple toes and feathered legs.

This would definitely be an interesting project.

Just my thoughts.
