B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

@ Sydney Acres thanks so much for such a detailed reply! I've been digging for good feeder ideas for the big coop, and your information has helped me narrow down some of my potentials. I will definitely incorporate portability into the design after reading your reply.

Please post pictures, ideally from multiple angles.  An experienced breeder may be able to tell you which gender they are.

So not exactly multiple angles or even a good angle. (I had a turkey that was dangerously interested in the camera lens every time I'd squat down!)

This last one is the one that is laying.

Thanks for your help!

I also have another 18 or so Dorkings that hatched at the end of June, so they're 4 1/2 months old. I have obvious cockerels in that group, though none are crowing or mating either.

All female!

All female!

Oh, the odds! I ordered 5 assorted Dorkings from Sandhill. They shipped 6, but one was DoA. (They arrived during a freak snowstorm and got stuck at the PO.). I processed 1 female at 4 months because she had a hernia and I didn't want things to get ugly later. The other 4 being female... too funny. Guess I'll have to wait for the crowd from late June to get fertile eggs!

Hello I am new to chickens and well fell in LOVE!!!! I would love to add dorkings to my flock but cannot find any for sale!!! Or at least that are not sold out any help would be appreciated

I am interested in adding a couple of Dorkings to my small flock. Where is the closest breeder to Western MA? would it be ok to get them from hatcheries? thanks

I should have some available in the spring but just sold my last 3 adult girls this week... only 1 is laying right now, and even if they all were, the roo's being lazy. so they're all free ranging for another month or so until I start finding eggs again.

Oh Just my luck!!!!! I had an opertunity for three hens when I first started a few weeks ago and I didn't know what I was passing up!!!!!

I also would love to contribute to rebuilding this breed from my research they sound AWESOME and perfect to help me and the family on our quest for self sufficiency!!!
