B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

I actually have a roo that I am trying to place so that I can replace him with a Horstman youngster, if you might be interested in him.
lol thanks but I just found a good home for Junior (the hawk-killing roo). since I got the roo from gene Patterson's lines, I really didn't need 3, and junior became low man of that ladder... big guy will have a home for life, simply because he's an awesome free ranging roo and great to his girls. junior was good too, but I wasn't as attached. LOL

pm sent re: the girls...

oh, and even after placing junior, I still have 2 sg (mcmurray and Patterson) and 2 red roos (craig Russell and horstman/tice)

Murray McMurray has silver greys, Sandhill Preservation Center has all varieties. You would have to contact them directly to see if they have any available at this time of year...

I may have chicks later this summer or into fall, but I don't ship. so unless you're in SW Virginia, Sorry.

I think the problem you may be running into is that there are a lot of different state regulations regarding shipping live birds. if you don't know all the ins and outs you can get into serious trouble with the law. Like for shipping into Virginia, you need your whole flock to be tested 15 days before shipping for Pullorium and Avian Influenza... which can be cost prohibitive to small independent poultry breeders. The large ones have enough customers to make it worth their while to do all the paperwork and testing so often.

do you have access to an incubator? shipping eggs is not as hard, I have heard.

i do live near sw virginia! i'm in north western north carolina!
well, bookmark this thread and when I start hatching some silver grey chicks i'll be hollering nice and loud. LOL

I'll be setting some eggs probably by Friday, depending on how the girls lay. I have 1 more (possible) order to fill then i'll be holding off a week or so to collect eggs before taking more orders for eggs.

I also have 3 eggs cooking that are due to hatch the 7th...

I do have an incubator, and I had considered doing the hatching eggs several times; but then I realized that I would have to get them home before they got into the incubator, LOL. I live up in the country and the property has a really rough entrance so I can guarantee the eggs would get jostled around at least a bit. With that in mind, the eggs seem to be a bit cost-prohibitive.
