B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Were there any Dorkings at the Ohio Nationals this year? I didn't attend this time so I doubt there were...Just curious did anybody go?

I think my egg faucet just turned on!!! I found two different clutches: one yesterday and one today. and three other random eggs in weird spots. I put golf balls in the nesting boxes but so far they haven't deigned to use them so i'm egg hunting.

Thank goodness dorking eggs are white or I'd never find them!!!

Are you're nest boxes too lit?

My Dorkings just started laying well, and I have trouble with them wanting to lay in the dirt too. I'll try making the nest boxes darker. Thanks. I also have a question. My eggs were very fertile and hatched well for a time, and now, none of them are developing. I also got some Dorking eggs from a friend and they are not developing either. I would suspect an incubator problem, but the other chicken eggs are doing fine. Is there some kind of seasonal fertility with Dorkings?

We're getting 12-15 Dorking eggs per day right now. Starting to get a little bigger now but still on the small side. They're nice and tasty though.

i noticed that last year myself, but attributed it to a lazy roo... i know my red roo is active and his girls' eggs are growing well too.

My Dorking cockerel is starting to feel hormonal but the girls are totally not ready. Since we are headed into winter here I suppose there is plenty of time for practice so that by the time spring comes around (or Feb when I hope to start hatching) my cockerel will not have any fertility issues. That would stink.

Since my last pics sucked.... here is another that also is a stinker...
