B12 vs B Complex? Please help me to understand

For 3 birds I'm guessing you are overtreating. I give all our table scraps but I have anywhere from 40-100 birds.
There is no problem with sticking with feed only for most days. If you think about it, the feed is formulated to be a complete feed. As healthy as your treats may be - which they are, you are still skewing the total nutritional makeup. When giving grains and scratch, keep in mind that feed is mostly grain and legumes so you are diluting the added vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
The sleeping in a pile may just be because they are young or it got too dark too fast for them to roost.

Thanks with regard to the treats. I suppose I could just ferment some of their feed so they/I feel like I'm bringing them something special. They have always roosted but wow is it dark early these days. Now I'm worried about their weight too though.

Fat hens aren't necessarily healthy. Fermented feed is ok but why do you think they need to think they are being brought something special? Your job is to give them the best nutrition possible. Your kids may feel you are bringing them something special if they get ice cream for dinner or fruit loops for breakfast but you aren't doing them any favors.

Yes, all of this is true. I just like it when they come running to see me. Total selfishness.
