it's almost twilight zone freakish how these birds grow so fast. my buddy's new KC and Rouen girlies have doubled in size in a matter of 10 days. is it growth plates in their legs? more cellular development as they eat? what is it? if humans grew as fast as they did it would be scary. i mean, if you stayed up and didn't sleep for 3 days you would see them grow but would it be imperceptible or would you see their bodies stretching with growth. it's like it's a fast dynamic sequence rather than a static one where you see them one size on day 3 and then a bigger size on day 10. so what i am saying here between dynamic and static, could you actually see them grow before your eyes?

I'd love to see a time lapse video, like one frame every hour for the first few weeks. You'd need a team of people to do it, though.

Ya, that would be perfect. it would be like watching the mysteries of nature in action as it moves dynamically. we see it in such static terms. You see rock formations that took thousands upon thousands of years to appear but they didn't just show up like the way we see today. they started, formed, morphed and here they are today. but in a bunch of years they will have changed but nobody will be around long enough to see the change. It's not like ice cream you put out in a warm room and in minutes it's a soupy mess.

I love imagining how rock formations showed up! I live next to the Colorado National Monument, and it's like seeing a freeze-frame in time of the rocks morphing.
Ducks just do it a lot faster.

BTW, here's a picture I took a few years ago just a couple of miles from my house:

You can see where the ground lifted up and BENT the rock.

So, random and off topic. I now return you to your regularly scheduled ducks.

Also: Zoom in on that picture, it's completely awesome.
