No other action yet....unfortunately I ended up with quite a few clear eggs

I think I'll be really lucky if I get more than 10 hatchlings out of like 50 eggs...I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with 5 or even less... I think its a combination of shipping, not turning them enough, and the temps....also one set of ~20 eggs I forgot to change the shipping address and they got shipped to my parents house in jersey while my dad was at work and were left on patio...then we didn't get them here till the next day...so we'll see if any of those hatch....

Shelley, 2 of yours are out and doing well, 1 is out that isn't doing so well...but I think it might recover...I think a couple more are pipped. ...so we shall see

Well rabbit cages we can do!! We raise rabbits LOLOL have TONS of them.. So, for hatchlings, just a sterilite tub, heat lamp, bedding... like chicks?? AWESOME!! I havent' heard from him yet.. I am getting impatient! BUT, I am hoping I do soon... UGH, I'd love to get some soon so that they can get used to us

I am a VERY impatient person hahahahaha

lol

So Shelley, 6 of yours hatched

a couple got close and died before hatching

Only 2 of Garrie's 15 eggs hatched and there were several that got very close before dying

I don't blame him for the rate though...I think they got banged around a lot in shipping and I must have had something screwed up to have several so close to hatching die.

I still have about 12 eggs going from CSpot....they were the ones I forgot to change the address. I think a couple of them are clear, but there are big dark areas in the rest (a couple have shells toooo thick/dark to see anything...) so hopefully at least a few will hatch! I am glad that I have at least 2 bloodlines to work with

So what I think I can tell so far is 4 white chicks (2 from garrie, 2 from shelley), a double blueface from shelley, and a cinnamon from shelley....not sure on the other 2 yet...they are still a little wet looking...and their color looks odd...possibly silvers?...I will take pics of everyone when they are all fully fluffy and adorable! Somehow while the first 4 were in the brooder their water somehow got spilled EVERYWHERE...and they have one of those little quart quail waterers...3 of them were SOAKED...1 was dry somehow...anyway 1 of them is basically dried now the other 2 are getting there. I very very lightly wrapped them in a shop towel under the heat lamp...seems to be working well and they are looking pretty good. **crosses fingers**

2 whites from my eggs? That's a new record!

I've only ever had 1 white in each hatch!! Congrats on the babies!!

Late embryo death like that can be caused be variating temps or humidity in the hatcher, just so you know, but there are many other reasons it could happen, it's really difficult to know for sure.

I had 6 of 14 hatch from Garrie's white/splash mix. They were brooded in the kitchen where I spend a lot of time and now live in the living room where I spend most of my time. You would think they would be pretty calm around me. They are the flightiest buttons I have, you just look at them and they start bouncing all over. My two other batches from different breeders, you can open the top, do what you need to do, and not one will fly up.

Was also wondering why more people don't keep groups of all white, so you get all white babies???? Or any of the recessive traits for that matter? Like silver?
