Baby Buttons!!!!!

Even with groups of all white, it's very difficult to get some that would breed true. Button quail colors are so mixed, it's almost impossible. It would take a lot of selective breeding to get them to breed true. These whites she got from me came from a pen of silver/silver redbreast/cinnamon birds in it, not one white bird in the bunch!

Lucky you, getting a tux. It doesn't seem like many people that get eggs from that person actually do hatch tux's.

That's what I've been hearing, but we now have proof, there is a tux gene in there somewhere. And s/he is as beautiful as it gets. The other mutations are also quite striking. I had written to some of the other buyers of his auction, and though they didn't get any tux's, they seemed pleased with the chicks,especially the golden pearls. I would really like to see about getting some curly button quail too. They sound fascinating.

Ok..so....4 whites, a double blueface (regular blueface?....seems awefully dark...), a normal?, and 2....silvers?... How far off am I?...lol

Well, I'm not all that good with colors, but I'll give it a shot

Pic #1: looks like 2 white, 1 silver, 1 cinnamon, and 1 blueface (congrats!! First blueface I know of hatching!!)

Pic #2:Could be wild, but I'm thinking more like golden pearl?

Pic #3: 4 white, 1 blueface, 2 silver, and 1 either redbreast or golden pearl (really don't know with those spots

)

Pic #4: The 1 on the left is either a red breast or a DV (golden redbreast), 1 silver, 1 white, and the blueface

Pic #5: Blueface--could be df, but I'm thinking sf. It doesn't have a white mark on its throat, which it should if it is df. But the cheeks look like they might be white? So I'm not sure

Pic #6: I think that's the DV/red breast one?

Pic #7: silver

Pic #8: Silver

Pic #9: White or ivory

Pic #10: white, definitely

(needed my shades for this one)

Pic #12: Probably white, but maybe ivory

Pic #13: They do look white, only time will tell!

It will be easier to tell when the get older, sometimes pics are hard to determine the colors of their stripes
