Baby chick doing poorly...

Hi, I think it's peeping alot because it's hungry. I would try feeding some chick mash mush, real mushy, on the end of a spoon. Also some water on a spoon. Poor baby.

You might have to pull him away from the others and offer him food by himself. Eggs are good to give them strength, or you can mix some starter with a bit of water. Is he drinking? Have you dipped his beak in water?

I have him by himself because I am afraid they will peck him.

I have resorted to feeding him with a tweezers. He does swallow it if I put it in his mouth.

He isn't up yet, either, but at least the bandaid is holding his legs in place. More or less.

Try mixing sugar in his water to give him more energy.

You don't mention whether it is moving it's legs or are they just laying there? Does it attempt to stand at all?

Might try and mix a drop of the vitamins and a cap ful of water, then dip his beek in it a couple times. They will live 3-4 days with out food and water. they still have the yolk sac in their tummy. of course its not advisable to let them go that long with out any! but I know you are trying. Thats all you can do!

I would just give up on him if he didn't seem to have such a will to live. He seems to pretty much spend all his time peeping LOUDLY.

Surely he will get the idea about eating sooner or later.

I had one with crippled legs and a "will to live"... I hobbled him, gave him three weeks!!! Hand fed him every two hours, vitamins, the works. Ended up having to cull him and it was much harder to do than if I just did it right away. I will never do it again. Sorry if that sounds mean, but chances are the hobble won't work because his "legs in the air" doesn't sound like splayed legs... splayed legs are really like the splits.

I'm a realist. Sorry.
