Baby chick doing poorly...

Ya know I just got the new issue of Practical Poultry and it has an article on why chicks die in the shell. My point being the position of the chick in the shell. Which is what the article addresses. In the case of the chick I posted about earlier here, there may have been some oxygen problem. It did have a hard time getting the shell off it's head. The airspace is very important. A oxygen deprived chick will of course have problems just like an infant, I would expect. Anyhow here I am again recommending Poulty mags. They have a new Hobby Farms mag I bought that's dedicated to chickens.

You just keep right on recommending them Rancher Hicks!! Some of them are a very good source of information and practical solutions to problems all of us will eventually face!

Oh, that's ok about the thread--I love the Poultry Mags also, and I have not read any for a while.

Mine did too....sorry for your loss...it was depressing when mine died but I guess it wasn't meant to be...and like you said, it gives us experience for next hatch or the one after that, or the one after that....LOL ! Take care !

Site update: For reference, the Poultry Podiatry website on chicken orthopedics & leg problems has moved to
www.PoultryPedia.com (which is linked in my sig line).

Very glad the site is being of help!
