i have a baby chick with a bunch of issues right now. I had long Whole post written up for here but figured I’d just start small and make sure nothing is missed! 🥺

What’s going on with his wing feathers and legs?
The feathers are just clumped together like it’s his skin over it and he’s got a raw red inflamed stomach ◠̈
These are just two of many issues but these two are the most prominent

ThNk you

A few questions:
  • How old is the chick?
  • What breed?
  • Was it an assisted hatch?
  • What are you feeding him/her?
  • Do you have a photo of the "stomach" issue?
He is 3 weeks old.
He was suppose to be an AMERACAUNA (what I ordered) but I believe he is an “Americana” or EE (though people say those two are not the same)
I’m not sure if it was assisted hatch or not.
Feeding all flock feed
This is the aromaxh
Belly is greasy like legs are peeling and flaming like excema
No mites

This is the whole write up I did about everything that I was going to post.

I need help with this guy.

I got this chick that I just don’t know what’s going on with him/her. I say him. But I really don’t know.

Anyways from day 1 this chick was just off
Squinted eyes and just super calm but cheeping all of the time. He’d just sit under the brooder and cheep quietly he can eat and drink and find food but when he isn’t finding food he is just under the light quietly peeping with his eyes closed
Then he started getting constipated- no pasty butt- just everytime he’d poop he’d stand up straight and lean back and start chirping loudly struggling to poop.
So I spent a couple of nights staying up late rubbing Vaseline on his butt and giving him a few drops of olive oil making sure all was good and he started pooping better.
His vent looked weird from the moment we got him but after the constipation it almost looked torn or swollen. Idk how to describe it.
Then he wouldn’t open one of his eyes ans kept it closed and so I fixed that too.
But now I’m noticing more things.
His 3 siblings are huge and he is still almost the size of a new chick. He has some wing feathers but they’re off…(attaching pics)
His feet/legs are starting to turn in.
And his wings are strange like there is excess skin growing on them so they’re stuck together.
His brooder mates are getting big enough to go outside ajd I didn’t want him to be alone so I got some baby chicks yesterday and he is roughly the same size as him. A little taller but body and feathers he still looks like a newborn.
And on his belly around his legs the skin is dry and flaky and red
Photo is attached of some of the things I’m noticing.
Is this just a genetic defect? I’ve never seen anything like this. I’ve asked in some chicken groups and no one knows.
They said if he hasn’t died yet he’ll probably live but I just don’t know
As time goes on I notice more and more things
