Baby chick has a hair stuck in its throat.

Hi so I don’t have any knowledge on baby chicks or chickens in general. To the point, my baby chick swallowed a hair and my dad managed to cut some of it out but now it’s stuck in the back of its throat and we can’t get it out. It doesn’t run around like t used to and it just stands still. I don’t know if it had anything to do with this but it is shivering a lot and it’s really warm. What should I do?

If the chick’s tongue ok and not tangled in the hair? If the tongue is fine and you have no way to get the hair, can you offer a tiny piece of bread to push the hair down into the crop?

Well, we’ve seen it here on the forums before and the chick recovered. The hair was wrapped around the tongue and made it swell, if memory serves me. Is this chick eating and drinking ok?

In the beginning it wasn’t drinking or eating but now it is eating a little bit. It also stopped chirping when it first started but now it is chirping more as well

Do you remember a few days or a week ago they got a hair out of a throat with a crochet hook?

No, I think I missed that! That’s great!

Yeah they were able to get hold of it with the crochet hook and pull it out. Can the OP find one? Maybe a neighbor has one?

@Brendaam28 did you see this crochet hook idea? Do you have any type of tiny hook with a blunt, smooth end you could try to get the hair with?
