baby chick--injured joint at leg? Not using leg-what to do??

draperchick -- you should start your own post with pics, I checked and didn't see one so I am sorry if you did and I missed it. I'm sure there are plenty willing to help but is hard to do without more info and in cases like this pics too.

We received her on Wednesday this week, so I assume she was born on Monday?--so she was 5 days old. We were just going to keep putting ointment on and trying to help her eat until she was CLEARLY close to death...because we were slightly optimistic at times. But, we are new to this--and weren't sure what to do. Last night she was totally limp and non-responsive...

Isolate her from the others... my chicky is a lot older than yours... I tried band-aids, and no success. Her legs look horrible, but keep your little chicky away from the ones that are trampling her.

I have a 3 day old chick with the same problem, spraddle leg, swollen feet. she will not/ cannot stand up on feet. I'm not sure what else I can do,. I tried the same as mentioned above, pulling the leg back straight to move the tendon into the groove but it does not seem to work. Can anyone help me? I feel so bad for the little thing, she has fought for the past three days so strong,

im sorry to hear about your chick, I have one that was hatched with a leg that isn't functioning properly, she cant stand on it, I feed and water her by hand, every two hours round the clock, like a real baby. drip water on her beak, and hold feed in my hand for her to peck. I found that if the chicks aren't finding the feeder I put in a stainless steel lid in the pen for them then put feed into it and then tap on it. the tapping sound brings them all running. I peck at the feed until they know where the feed is. Same with the water , I have a waterer, and put marbles in it so they are curious and then they drink. With the chick with the bad leg , she jumped out of her little box to join the others, and is adjusting quite well. I check to make sure she joins in with the feed, and the water, she is learning to run on one leg and hop. I figure, if she has the will to try, I have the will to meet her there, and help her. I love the chicks, they are like family to me.

Wow I have a BCM chick with a similar leg issue. It was burn 7 days ago. It hops around on one leg. The bad keg will not bend down. It's feet most of the time are drawn up. It does eat and drink if it were not for the org you wouldn't think anything was wrong. I'm trying to figure out how to put pics on here but have not figured it out yet.
Any ideas on what to do about the chicks leg. And how to post a pic on this post :idunno

Here are pics of the little guy and its bum leg

Is anyone still on here? I have a chick that just started limping and holding up its leg. I'm trying to figure out what to do. It seems to be getting worse and not better
