Baby chick question

What is the preferred age to introduce baby chicks to the flock? Babies have a mother hen watching over them.

Well, I just got a new batch of chicks a few months ago. I usually don't have a problem with putting them out after about a month or less if the mom's with them. My mama hen was fierce. She didn't let anyone near her babies.

I had no problems with the others going after them as long as they were exposed beforehand (in a wire pen in the main run). I had twenty-eight other chickens at the time. You'll be fine as long as you have a protective mother hen.

I put mine out with the flock of 18 hens and 1 roo at 1 week. It has been about 4 days and all is great. The other hens leave them alone. I just need a way to keep the grown chickens and 2 grown ducks from drinking and knocking over their water. Good luck! BTW mine free range during the day so they are not cooped up together in a confined space. That might make a difference.
