Baby Chicks are Not Toys!!!

Oh goody, a post made by someone because they got completely shut down trying to bash another poster/cause drama on that poster's thread. AWESOME :pop

I have 3 human babies, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 8 younger cousins, and over the last several decades have had many species of fish, mice, guinea pigs, 5 dogs, hermit crabs, and now chickens.

The only thing easier than the chickens was the hermit crabs. Even goldfish were more difficult to care for.

Yes, chicks require lots of special care. No, buying an incubator that some feel is inferior does not equal neglect or treating chickens like toys.

I'm guessing you made some mistakes early on and are now taking it personally that someone didn't listen to your repeated comments that an incubator is "garbage."

We are all sorry for whatever happened to you. However, before you trash others for not taking your "advice," learn a little about them and maybe share a little more about your experience if you truly believe your opinion is helpful.

And let me reiterate what EVERYONE else here is saying- NO ONE ON THIS FORUM THINKS CHICKENS ARE TOYS. Including the person you are attacking.

Take a deep breath and remember everyone on the other side of a forum comment is a human trying to do their best.

:love

Totally agree with the OP, they are not toys, and should be treated with respect, as they are living animals. Teach you kids how to carry/pick them up properly, and not man handle them, or chase them around the yard. So sad to see mommies gushing about how their kids love their chicks and chickens with picture of them squishing them and carrying them improperly. Rant over..... :frow:frow:frow

Hey, I'm a mom doing just that. I'm trying to teach my kids to properly pick up/hold chickens and it's sometimes pretty difficult when a kid is so excited. Feel free to check out my posts and give me pointers! I'm not being sarcastic, I'm absolutely serious :)
