Baby chicks countdown thread!

So cute

I switched up my order since they wont have certain breeds

1 australorp
1 blue laced res wyandotte
1 salmon faverolle
1 buff orpington
And maybe an isa brown still but they probably wont get them in with the other chicks so i will have to get a different breed.
That will be a nice friendly flock, with all different feathering! ❤️

They fell asleep the minute I picked them up . Also, not sure if anyone noticed but this poor wyandotte has markings that make her look like shes done with this world

@Iluveggers
I just got 2 orders from Ideal, 8 in each shipment, and I didn't get any packing peanuts or heating pad. They did put straw inside and it contained heat very well.
Thanks! I want to order with them next year (I was too late with what I wanted this year), & was hoping no Roos were included as extras!

I recently posted here about waiting on my chicks from the USPS and losing some. They hatched at Murray McMurray on Feb 7, and I received them on Feb 9 at 4:30 pm in California. So, only 2 days shipping, but I think Priority Express packages are supposed to come in the morning, and I don't know why, maybe because of all the cutback at USPS and the issues with shipping during Covid, I was nervous.

I ordered 27, and 8 died within 3 days. That's outrageous. Honestly, I was wondering what I was doing wrong. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Bielefelders or Speckled Sussex died.

Anyways, I was short chicks and very sad. I ordered a few more from ALCHEMIST FARM in California, which costs much more than MM, doesn't kill their male chicks, runs on solar, lives by a zero-waste philosophy, and plays classical music to the incubating eggs and chicks...

Can I say I don't think it was me? These new chicks are spectacular! They ALSO took 2 days to arrive even though they were only traveling 350 miles or so! But they jumped out of the box and ran to the feeder to eat. They do not move away when I place my hand in the brooder - maybe its the classical music :). They are just really vibrant. They are now in a brooder separated by mesh from my surviving MM chicks and doing great. and Francesca, the owner, was very communicative via email when I had questions about ordering.

If you are looking for a different chick ordering experience and can afford it (these are not $4.50 chickens!), I'd really recommend this place.

PS- pic is 3 Isbars, 6 double silver laced barnevelder, 2 female bielefelder
