Baby chicks countdown thread!

I’m glad you had a good experience with Alchemist!
I saw this in another thread. Hopefully they’ve fixed the issue!
No, I think there was a problem at the post office, so it probably happened then, but those cups shouldn’t have been in that package anyway. There was also a giant heat pack in it, and those other two chicks that died were pinned under it. That’s why they died.

That's horrible! What hatchery was it?
(It was Alchemist, somehow that quote didn’t save. She has a few birds from there with cross beak.)

By the way, your chicks are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE ❤️❤️❤️

Better late thsn never! 1 buttercup died, and 3 of our 4 Murray McMurray Bielefelders! It was a hard trip for them. But when I called the lady also asked if my losses were the Bielefelders, so maybe they are weak... Here's buttercup.View attachment 2995101
I have buttercups coming from that McMurray in April, now I'm nervous. So sorry for your losses:hit

well my order form is filled out just need to drop it off probably tomorrow!!!!

1. Your expected ship/arrival week April 15/16

2. How many weeks are left 8 long weeks

3. Where you ordered from local farm store

4. What was in your order 1- Buff Brahma
1- Blue Rock
1- olive Egger
2- EE

hoping to get to another local feed store around the same time to add 1- cream legbar, 1- Marans and possibly 1- buttercup.

And will hopefully (fingers crossed) hatch out some Cochins if my blue cochin ever desides to start laying and stop being a freeloader soon (wanted to hatch them around the same time I got the other chicks) and if someone goes broody in my group. But my Blue Cochin is a bit over 10 months old and her comb and wattles are still on the smaller side but getting pink finally at least. haahaa. But I need her to start laying ASAP and someone to go broody around mid March so thinking any I hatch will be younger than my other babies since even if she started laying now I don't think a month would really be enough time to give her eggs time to get bigger to hopefully have a better hatch rate.

How did I miss this post? Beautiful looking setup!

Please let me know how your Dorking is! That is on my list for next year, lol. We ordered a lot of the same breeds!

Will you house your broilers with your layers?
I am going to house them all together. Broilers are a trial and to be determined if My son likes the process. If it works out well, I might build a separate tractor for future groups.

Ya she does ship with a heat pad, but it was in such a way not to be a danger. No cups, must have worked that out. Probably puts something just I the corner snow. They don't tell you, but I think Murray McMurray also puts a scoop of grogel in the box. There's always a florescent green stain in one corner, and it's not poop! :). Even tho the chicks supposedly don't need anything...
