Baby Chicks in the Mail...

First off, the PMG today before the Senate had to address the chicken shipment issue. So our voices were heard and loudly.

Next, I posted this in another thread:
FYI, mail operations are back to their normal selves in the last few days. The COVID package volume is still tremendous (Christmas season volumes) but delivery of animals should be okay. Keeping this non-political as I can.
Chicks and crickets have been going out with no problems at my processing and distribution facility, just the normal problem of transposed numbers dealing zip codes or house numbers.

MyPetChicken informs me that, as far as they know, the delivery issues are only with large farm orders, which they don't do. That said, they stand by their money-back guarantee within 48 hours of delivery. Also, they want people to know they are monitoring the situation and are waiting for more definite information from official sources - which has not really been forthcoming yet.
They also said if anyone feels uncomfortable, they will accept cancellations, but at this point, they don't feel there is an issue.
When they know more they will post it on their website.

I've only ever order from My Pet Chicken. Their response to you confirms my experience that they are a stand up operation!

I hope and trust other hatcheries are too and are dealing with this manufactured crisis the best they can. I just don't have direct experience of them to speak to.

This is unspeakable cruelty and unnecessary tragedy. It should NEVER have happened!

People I know who work with mail regularly for their business here in Ohio are reporting delays on items shipped to them of up to 3 weeks still and LOTS of lost orders. So I highly doubt shipping is back to normal everywhere.
I noted Christmas level volume (adding, "with summer time staffing") and yes it is going to take a little time to recover from the work rules that were recently implemented and reversed this week in the MAJOR city distribution centers. There will still be some issues as not all changes could be reversed.

Yeah the mail sorting machines and such removed locally certainly aren't put back in yet, let alone the post boxes. I hope they end up getting put back.
Blue boxes are being re-installed as we speak, but it leaked to the media that the re-installing of the machines has been forbidden unless approved by higher ups, as Plant and Postmasters were ordering their re-installation and got smacked down.

Much of that (huge, specialized and expensive) mail sorting equipment has already been destroyed or critically damaged so it can't be reinstalled and we, the taxpayers, will have a large preventable expense to replace iit.

Only if the Government decides to give the USPS a bail out like they have banks, cruise lines, hotels, car companies, and etc. Otherwise, the USPS only gets money when you use our services; USPS can only borrow from the US Treasury and is maxed out.
