Isn't it nice that you can always reach someone there and they talk to you and look for a solution like your problem matters? So different than the corporate approach that has 3 solutions and your problem had better fit one of them!

I called Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. They said they guarantee the life of the chicks for 48 hours, starting from the time the customer picks them up at the post office. So a refund would be given - however, this was a customer service rep and she said the company has made no official comment or created no official policy on the issue.
Realistically, that policy may change as the death of chicks in the thousands goes unabated.
I ordered from Meyer. I know they have the guarantee or I would probably cancel at this point. Two of the four females I ordered are $23 hatchlings. I really don't want the four babies to be dead though, money back guarantee or not. It would make me horribly sad for wasted life.
I ordered my first batch of chicks back in April, and they shipped on Monday 8/17. They arrived at the Post Office the next day on August 18th. Unfortunately, 4 of the 6 black silky chicks did not survive the journey. The 2 surviving silkies seem active and healthy.
Just in case you didn't see my other post, the people at MyPetChicken said that as far as they are aware, the issue is with very large farm orders of hundreds of chicks, not small orders. Fingers crossed!I ordered from Meyer. I know they have the guarantee or I would probably cancel at this point. Two of the four females I ordered are $23 hatchlings. I did see one of the permaculture youtubers just got 100 cornish cross in the mail recently here in NC so I'm more hopeful that they do expedite the birds through the mail. I'm sure the last thing the people who handle the actual mail want to see is a box of dead animals. I just wish our politicians would be the ones who have to deal with it and see the heartbreak on the faces of the recipients. Maybe all those who receive dead chicks should email the pictures to the PMG. If mine arrive dead that's what I will do.
