Baby Chicks in the Mail...

Isn't it nice that you can always reach someone there and they talk to you and look for a solution like your problem matters? So different than the corporate approach that has 3 solutions and your problem had better fit one of them!
Yes, I agree!

Thanks for doing that @jonalisa ! That's where my order is coming from. I'll keep checking the website and blog for any information. I put a few calls out today to local reps but got mostly the secretaries. Delaware is kinda buzzing politically right now...you can kinda guess why. :D:D:D
Thanks for putting in the effort to call, I truly appreciate it

Just wanted to chime in and say I just (yesterday) received five beautiful bouncing, healthy baby chicks from mypetchicken. I'm in Florida and coming from their hatchery in Connecticut, they were in the mail less than 24 hours before I picked them up. I was super worried but due to the fact that our mail hasn't seemed to have suffered since all the hubbub began I decided to risk it. So at least up and down the east coast it seems to be ok still. The chicks came through Ohio first before getting to me so should be good there as well!

Thanks, good to know and much appreciated!

Makes me so sad. I put an order in with a hatchery for my first chicks before this all started.. they're set to ship in 3 weeks. Been prepping, reading, and building.. and of course worrying as I hear news about the USPS. Was planning on talking with the folks at the hatchery next week, but am now thinking I should just cancel and wait till I can find local chicks for sale.

Those poor chicks and farmers. 😢
Part of the problem with waiting for local chicks... Do you have a local hatchery? When I went to the PO to pick up my chicks in March, there were boxes and boxes of 100’s of chicks. Postal clerk told me they were for all the local feed stores. So my fear is unless we have a local supplier, we won’t be seeing baby chicks at the feed stores anymore.

My five chicks that shipped July 20 from MyPetChicken didn't make it. (We were so so sad 😭). The customer service people at MPC were lovely, and we're going to try again at the end of September in case it was the heat that did it (I'm in Alabama). I suspect they were mishandled by our urban post office, maybe because of budget shortages? My plan is to be much more of a presence on the phone and at the post office in the days leading up to my shipment so that they know that they're coming and can look out for them better.
