Hey y'all!!!

I've had many questions about baby chicks making small "clicking" noises right after hatching. I have about 30 baby chicks in the house at the moment, ranging from 2 weeks to one day old.

I have realized that they usually do this either when content, or sick. Two opposite sides of the spectrum, I know. It could either be a case of pneumonia, or maybe some fluid is still in the lungs if they are very recently hatched. I hold every one of our chicks every single day, and have noticed they all do it. We haven't lost any of ours, and none are sick, so I'm not worried about ours. I actually have one nestles on my neck as I'm typing this, and I hear faint clicks a couple times a minute.

I am no vet, so I am in no way qualifies to tell wether your chicks are sick or not. If you realize they are in distress, I cannot tell you what to do with them, for I would feel horrible I you went by my words and the unthinkable happened. So please contact a vet in that case.

I just wanted to make a post declaring that if they are "clicking", it's not always a bad thing! Happy hatching everyone!!!
