my baby chicks are about 5 to seven days old, its beautiful outside, aprox 70 F can I take them outside for ten minutes to let them forage in the grass?

Certainly! Just take them out for about 15-20 minutes & stay with them & WATCH OUT FOR HAWKS even if you live in the burbs! I've had them try to snatch a baby while I was sitting right there with them within arm's reach. Pretty bold, huh? Congrats on your lil peepers!

They don't need to forage at that age, but I don't think it will hurt them for a few minutes. They need to be kept warm that young, and be careful they don't get away from you.

Have fun & post pix,
Imp

My chicks love it outside. I let them out several times a day, when they want to go back in they can, there cage is left open and outside. Yeah be careful of hawks and losing them. I luckily have a dog who guards and herds the babies

Make sure they don't run off, generally they will follow you though, at least mine do. Good luck!

If I only had from 4 to 6 chicks I might consider that, but with 27 there's no way to do that at this point.

If you're feeding a balanced chick starter feed, there's no need, but it is fun I'm sure.
