baby duck with lots of problems

Does Opie wander in on his own?
When we leave the gate open to the area where the flock lives mainly in fall and winter since they tend to want to eat things I have growing in the back yard. Opie will walk in and even bring a few of his girls along. lol I have even had a couple chickens and my gander come in before. My gander use to come to the back door and knock but my dog stuck her head out of the doggie door and grabbed him by the chest feathers and brought most of them inside when I heard the commotion I ran in to the kitchen and saw the feathers I just knew she had mortally wounded him thankfully he wasn't injured. I don't let the geese come into the back yard anymore They don't like the dogs and can't seem to control wanting to go after them and my largest dog does not like them at all. So they can all only be together when me or dh are all out with them. I use a long bamboo pole to keep the geese at a nice distance from the dogs.

That is so funny. Oppie coming in and bringing the girls with him. Well at least the gander knocks and doesn't barge right in. lol Is that Sammy that did that? Thank goodness the dog only got the feathers and not the chest.

I can just see you now with the pole and those geese know you mean business. No wonder they go after the dogs after what they did to the gander in the doggie door. They probably have a grudge that they want to settle.

I have an area in the back yard that is fenced off we originally did it so the baby chicks wouldn't get picked on by the older ones. That is the only place I can have flowers now. The girl ducks were jumping the little fence I had to lay eggs in the flower bed. When I gathered all those they started laying in the big dog house. Now when I get their eggs I leave one so they have continued to lay in there. These girls will go broody at the drop of a hat.

Que Sera is outback socializing again. I little stinker is enjoying herself to much. lol She is doing her happy dance going from one water bowl to the other.

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday. Poor Ozzie the dog is scared to death of fire works. I dread tonight because it's going to get loud.

Mine don't like fireworks either but Patty we are getting some of your rain so don't think we will hear any tonight. wonderful rain too.

They will lay, trample and root up anything they can for sure. Your chickens or ducks go broody at the drop of a hat? thankfully none of my LF girls go broody just my bantams and of course my Muscovy's I collect eggs daily. lol

Sounds like Que Sera has become quite the socialite. Doing the happy dance maybe she'll have them all doing it soon.

My pleasure I love talking about my flock with others who love them the way I do.

I love reading your posts Miss Lydia and hearing about the antics and behaviors of your individuals. And I have been loving all the pics you've been putting up.

Oh, thankfully the gander wasn't hurt. Scary moment. I love Opie the Muscovy coming in with his girls. So cute. I bet he is a happy guy having those women!!!

I think it's his hip. His feet didn't look bad at all. I hope it's not painful either I'm putting brewers yeast tablets in his water bowl now. I don't know how old he is. Hubbie bought him for me about 3 years ago.

Patty
Let us know how he does with the yeast stuff. I hope it helps and eases his symptoms.

I couldn't believe how soft Clydes feathers were. He really seemed to enjoy everyone petting him and making over him. I hope that Que Sera will always remember the bond we have. She isn't glued to my ankle anymore but if she gets afraid she will run over to me. I am her protector or I guess her mom.

Patty
Sweet Softie Clyde the Dad bird of Que Sera.

I hope she does too remember the bond. You two have been through so much together and it would be sweet if she still hung out with you. I bet she will. She gets comfort from you.
