I got a phone call that a few towns over somebody had dumped a baby duckling in front of the hotel all by itself. No one would take it and it was without food and water for at least 8 hours, possibly more.

I got there and I don't know what breed it is, a lot of people own ducks and from the breeds I'm aware of it may be a rouen, but it's awful tiny.
By the time I got home it had been at least 10 hours without food or drink.
I got it fresh water with Nutri Drench, and got some mashed cucumbers and flock raiser crumbles. I dipped his bill in both and he did drink, just not a lot. He won't eat at all.

From the looks, he may be only a day old, if even.
I read online baby ducks can go 72 hours without food and drink after hatching, so is he just not hungry yet?

Might not be hungry let’s hope that’s what it is gives him a better chance of making it. Make sure it gets plenty to drink and you can give him the nutri drench right along side of the bill to that will get into its system faster along with its drinking water. Bless you for taking in the lil one. Do you think it could be a Mallard? Also you can make soupy feed and see if it will eat it like that use warm water .

Oh a mallard could be a good chance too, didn't think of that. There is a lake, it's on the opposite side of town than the hotel. I'll post a picture of him in a minute.
Okay I can do that, he seemed interested for just a second and then went back to hopping around. He's got lots of energy and very tame.

I've got a very soft heart and couldn't just leave him, I have adult ducks so I've got the supplies for him already set up. He might get lonely as I work all day Monday, do you know if a mirror would work like it can for lonely baby chickens?

His bill is sooooo small, could he be a call duck? He was VERY interested in the Nutri Drench dropper, but not a fan of the taste haha!

Newly hatched what ever it maybe a Call maybe but I am betting Mallard probably got left behind when mama was taking ducklings to water source. It’s amazing where they will nest. Sure is a precious lil one. Yes a mirror and stuffed animal for cuddling.
I'll be sure to get him one. Thank you! I used to own a Mallard, it somehow got snuck into a batch of rouen ducks at an auction. She flew away one day.
