I got a phone call that a few towns over somebody had dumped a baby duckling in front of the hotel all by itself. No one would take it and it was without food and water for at least 8 hours, possibly more.
I got there and I don't know what breed it is, a lot of people own ducks and from the breeds I'm aware of it may be a rouen, but it's awful tiny.
By the time I got home it had been at least 10 hours without food or drink.
I got it fresh water with Nutri Drench, and got some mashed cucumbers and flock raiser crumbles. I dipped his bill in both and he did drink, just not a lot. He won't eat at all.
From the looks, he may be only a day old, if even.
I read online baby ducks can go 72 hours without food and drink after hatching, so is he just not hungry yet?
