my baby pigeon has been being bullied recently since she moved into the cage, she has huge raised scabs around her face and neck and I don't know what it is. it might have something to do by the others pecking her but if anyone has any ideas please reply urgently. (i know this is a chicken forum but i couldnt find anything online)

Hi @alyssapigeon :frow Welcome To BYC

I don't know much about pigeons, so let's see if some others may be able to chime in
@biophiliac @sourland

From what I can tell, it looks like your pigeon has Fowl Pox(?) Are those sores inside the beak as well or just on the outside?

I also think it looks like dry pox. If so, it is caused by a mosquito carried virus. It is self limiting and adult bird usually recover in 10 to 14 days. Unfortunately in young birds it can be more severe, even fatal. If your bird continues to eat and drink it may recover.

Been a bit hectic here so Ive not been online for a day or 2.. I love catch-ups with lots of pics tho! :D
Thank you! :)

Oh no! I'm so sorry! How old is it? Is it eating on its own? If so, keep lots of food and water available. If it isnt, hand feed 15-20 warm peas, with no seasonings whatsoever, 2-3 times a day.

Welcome to byc by the way! Sorry you had to join in such unfortunate circumstances.

@casportpony might be able to help.

Looking back, it's feathered, so it should be eating in its own, but if it's too weak, feed peas by hand.
Please go to her thread and post your id.... deleted... I got confused!:oops:
