I was looking for squabs at a farm(the owner wants me to rid of all the feral pigeons) and found a nest of two eggs, me being inquisitive wanted to see what stage of development the egg was at. I peeled open the shell and found a hatchling ready to greet the world with its yolk almost totally absorbed. Within an hour or so it's yolk was absorbed and it was doing fine. How do I care for it?!?!?! I already have hand raised some but not this young! I have breeders at home with babies hatched yesterday, any ideas?

There are links on U Tube showing feedings of young squabs.

I find the first 5 days critical where they are so small. I think the yolk of a chicken egg maybe a good route to go for the first few days.

Then make a warm sort of pudding out of chicken pellets.

If you have squabs the same age you stand a real good chance to get your breeders to foster the orphan.

Good luck!

I experimentally put him in with my pair that has babies and they've been feeding him a little, I'm a bit concerned as to how small he still is, could be just him compaird to the others

I need help. I have a 3 weeks old baby pigeon that its parents won't feed it anymore. I been feeding it for a week but I don't see any progress. It is very active and the poop looks normal. I feed it wet seeds. Any help please :-(

Hes probably just being weaned but, if it puts you at ease, Get a big syringe and cut the top off, then stretch a balloon over the end and poke a hole in the end big enough for its beak. Fill it with the food it's parents have been eating and 100degree water. Stick his beak in and kinda emulate how the parents do it. If you didn't get that I can post a pic

Run a search on U-Tube and see some of the methods fanciers use in hand feeding squabs compare and see which one suits your needs best here is one such link :
