2 week old quail is injured badly. It’s bleeding. When he was 3-4 days old I injured him with the metal thing that I placed on top of the brooder so my cat doesn’t eat them. How to stop the bleeding? Do you think I should go to the vet and put him down? I can see the bone. It is sticking out a bit.

How is he acting? He looks bright and alert in he pic so I wouldn't put him down yet. I don't have much advice on the actual wound though. Could you pull the feathers back and get a closer pic?

Are you sure something didn't grab him. I see blood underneath too.

Can you get clearer closer up photos?

Is it eating?

My healthy coturnix quail tremble (shake), so I'd not be overly concerned about that issue. You can find a product at your local feed store called "bleed-stop", and it does just that. Stops bleeding. You might be able to locate this at your drug store too; in the mens toiletries department, near the razor section; the real razor section, not the bic-razor section; Ask the pharmacist for styptic powder.
