I grow mushrooms, I dry all my mushrooms and they last a very very long time, changes the texture tho thats for sure. I like a good canned/jarred mushroom // have you thought about making a spore syringe so you will have the spores to grow more yourself wherever and whenever you want? some mushrooms are amazingly easy to grow

More info on the syringe, please??? How long will the spores last in the syringe? My simple idea is to simply let some of the mushrooms mature, and they should drop spores right in the BTE mulch for the next season's crop. I'm assuming they are winter hardy, but... that's a fool's assumption! More homework required. I could always do a hay bale or leaf bag mulch over the spawned area. Will also need to put up deer netting to keep the chooks from destroying the bed when I let them in to glean.

I'd love to see a photo of your mushrooms, please!

LM, I'm a techno idiot. But we just got a new computer.... hoping the software, including BYC photo management system is easier for me to figure out.

next time i do some oyster mushrooms i will maybe do a thread with a walkthrough and pics, I don't have a cellphone so i dont take a lot of pictures like other people

Please do.

just look up "spore syringe tek" on google and it will give you multiple ways of doing it.
easy way that is pretty much how i do it..
Steps

prepare the syringe

  • assemble the syringe and needle
  • boil water in a pot for 10 minutes
  • suck in and expel water from each syringe twice
  • on the third time leave the water in the syringe to cool for ½ an hour (or until cool to the touch).
Note: if you have sterile, unopened syringes you can skip step 3. Instead just open and assemble the syringe and needle and suck up the boiled water.
Spore water

  • Once the water in the syringes has cooled inject all the water from each of the syringes into the baggie.
  • Using your thumb and fingers, rub the foil so that the spores are washed into the sterilized water.
  • Your water should look something like id does in the pics. Notice how dark it is. In this example, I used two syringes but I could have probably made five from a print this big. Generally, I don’t see a reason to skimp on spores since they are so easy to gather.
  • Now suck up the spore water into the syringe.
////

I use a small glass and take a spore print inside the glass so i dont have to mess with a baggie

the spores will last a year or two at least, the spore print will last even longer. I dont know about your mushrooms but i bet i could find a tek to grow them. you could look up an outdoor sawdust tek

Some of my pepper plants are being ravished with holes... anyone know why? And I discovered a hole on one of the actual peppers too, goes inside. And this eggplants, which came from my brother and his girlfriend's house 2 miles down the road from us, also has holes in it. The other one they gave us does not. WHAT IS HAPPENING!?
