Back yard rabbit group anyone?

If a backyardrabbits.com is created be sure to let me know, I am looking into/thinking about getting some rabbits and found that I have been spoiled by BYC and my chickens!

Hey Friends!

Talk to me! Are you guys thinking about just having this group on BYC or starting a new home?

If a new home, what would be the benefit of starting something new over using any of the many existing rabbit forums out there?

im in i love byc so it would be nice to have a section her on rabbits and as many goat post as i seen i think goats needs there own to.

I own rabbits so I would love a site. I want goats so I would also love that site as well

It would seem to me that if you broke up Other Pets & Livestock into sections for Rabbits, Cows, Goats, etc then eventually you would have to rename this site to backyardanimals.com. Then as people began to come here to talk about cats, dogs, pigs... Well it would become quite a huge site, but I guess you could sell ad space off to the right and quit your job if you were an admin or a mod?

I agree I think we all like the community rules and level headed enforcement.

Why is there a backyardcows.com? I assume this is run by Nifty as well?

I'm open either way- but I do love me some BYC! The most active rabbit forum I go to is great, but it is not geared toward breeding rabbits for meat, show, homesteading, ect.. It consists of a lot of people who balk at the idea of butchering them. I like that when people post meat rabbit threads here they seem to form a good discussion, rather than just get replied to with a bunch of "you should kill rabbits-sell them all as pets" answers.

Don't get me wrong, I love pet bunnies too, and I don't even butcher rbbits anymore. I just think that this is what makes the discussions on BYC a little different than some of the other popular rabbit forums.

This is why I would like to see a rabbt thread here. The Mods here are great , wont stand for name calling and bashing Unlike a lot of the other"rabbit forums" out there.
The Pet it not Eat it people who also frown upon showing rabbits and really tend to get over heated.
People forget Rabbits were/ are table fare long before someone got the idea they could make money selling them as pets.
Here under strict moderation we can be free to discuss ways of butchering, housing, fur preperation and yes pet rabbits also. I like this site its been very kind to me and would feel rather guilty going somewhere else just for rabbits.
JMHO milage may vary
