It looks to me like there aren't too many breeders in WA. I know of one in Sedro Woolley, but they don't sell chicks, and big bucks for pullets. If you're interested, let me know. You might want to go to the Washingtonian social page and ask them. I'm on the Eastern WA. thread, and I know there's no one there with Brahmas. I'm just east of Snoqualmie Pass, but really like the people on the E.WA thread. There's people there from Idaho, Oregon, and western WA. too, so feel free to drop in.There isn't anyone by me anywhere that I can find that has these little sweeties. My options are RIR I'd really prefer these if I could find a few.
I am so glad you started this thread, thank you! Brahmas are not only beautiful, but very special pets. I hope lots of people will be comfortable posting pictures and telling Brahma stories here.I know there are multiple Brahma threads out there but I want to start this one to help those who may sometimes feel threatened by the feedback they hear from those who know "poultry perfection"
BACKYARD BRAHMAS!!
This thread is for people who have Brahmas that are nothing special but are close to their hearts.
If you have no idea or don't care about tail angle, vulture hocks or broad heads.....then this is the place for you!
I would like to say that I have no problem with those who are very interested in the world of poultry shows or that enjoy further developing a breed. However, when two groups that have such different goals meet it tends to lend it self to hard feelings and heated discussions.
SO.....Post pics of your gentle giants hatchery or not, ask questions, and enjoy being the owner of backyard Brahmas!
I hope this catches on![]()
I would love to see pictures of your banty brahma, and her cochin friend too!Are Banty Brahma owners welcome? I have one beautiful little buff gal who I consider one of my two prettiest birds. I love her, bought her from a show a year ago. She is so mellow and sweet natured! She shares her coop with a banty Cochin (prettiest girl #2) and a Silkie cockerel. I am thinking of having a straight up 'yard candy' flock someday. Just pretty bantams loose on the front lawn... *daydreamy smile*
I had a light brahma I got from a hatchery, my Most Desired Chick in the group. And of course, 'she' ended up with tree trunk legs, a vertical stance and a love of twirling around dancing. I can't have boys so I found him a new home with a flock of ladies outside city limits. Still would love to have a LF brahma but I will have to wait for room in the coop. Maybe I can hatch some myself later this year. I just have to find a local breeder willing to part with some eggs.
