I actually am taking a road trip in July/August. Stopping in Tennessee, Virginia and Ohio. Could probably arrange an overnight in Illinois or Iowa on the way home. We'll talk via PM.

Thehen wont lay eggs for along time but if the males mate do they fertilize hens at 4 months?

Well my cockerels don´t start mating until they´re well over 6 months old, most likely 8 months, like the hens for laying...They have their hackle feathers well developed. I have two cockerels that have started mating the chickens in the last month, and the youngest is 8 months, but I haven´t heard him crow yet, the other, just recently started crowing, most likely 10 months to a year old...not sure, as I bought him in. I have another of 7 months that hasn´t started doing anything yet. Still very much a baby in his ways. I expect they´re fertile, but they´re still learning to hit the mark! So, at 4 months I have no idea.

My chicks were born nov 22. Two of them laid on may 9.

So, nearly 6 months, then.

Two out and two more pipped this morning! And the one toward the back has feathered middle toes.

Fluffy middle toe is what you want. Congrats on the chicks.

Hi All,

I recently had a Brahma Egg Stowaway with my English Opingtons eggs, then breeder send in error. He also breeds beautiful Brahmas (Dan Powell lines) this is my handsome Cockerel that I ended up with. Well, I think he's handsome. Not sure if he's "politically Correct" so if someone wants to pipe in and let me know what they think, I don't mind at all. He happens to be a heh"Birchen Brahma" it's my understanding that the color is still rare. (I'm going to make an attempt to post a picture of him) lol
