Backyard Brahmas!!

Greetings from Plantersville, TX. Small town USA at it's best.....

We recently purchased a surprise mix of pullets from Ideal Hatchery. We are more mystified than surprised. We simply do not know what these two chicks are. We believe the yellow is some type of Brahma. Can you help?

Thanks

As far as I know, Ideal only has buffs, lights and darks (maybe darks, not sure?). Anyway, this definitely not a dark. It is either light or buff and I'm thinking light (will be white with black markings).

do i see "muffs" on the face? if so, it may be a cross between a brahma and a ee? i have several that the cock is a buff laced and the hen is a ee, my babies have the muff and feathers downe the legs like that

Fluffy middle toe is what you want.  Congrats on the chicks.

Yes! Thanks!! Most have at least some feathering on middle toes.. A couple have fairly thick. Does it get better as they mature or can you judge it based on hatch amount?

Ps I'm up to six now! :D (this hatch will linger thru mid-week as I added a few days after initial set)..

Can't see enough of the comb, but I am wondering if possible Salmon Faverolle ?

Hi All, I recently had a Brahma Egg Stowaway with my English Opingtons eggs, then breeder send in error. He also breeds beautiful Brahmas (Dan Powell lines) this is my handsome Cockerel that I ended up with. Well, I think he's handsome. Not sure if he's "politically Correct" so if someone wants to pipe in and let me know what they think, I don't mind at all. He happens to be a heh"Birchen Brahma" it's my understanding that the color is still rare. (I'm going to make an attempt to post a picture of him) lol
He's growing out of his pterodactyl-ly phase. How cute! But it looks like he has vulture hocks... ? Anyone else seeing this? Vulture hocks are the hard feathers that look sorta like extra wings below the real ones.

Yeah, maybe. At first I thought it was the angle of the near leg, but if you look at the far leg you can see some feathers down there. So, not sure, but maybe.

I know, I love the pterodactyl stage....they are so homely during that period that they are almost cute! Then suddenly, you have birds that look like chickens instead of dinosaurs.
