Backyard Brahmas!!

If I have four gold partridge brahma hens and a gold partridge rooster and I add one lemon pyle, one buff, one dark, one light, one red pyle and one blue partridge, will the chicks come out as either buff, or dark etc, or as a mixture of all the colours? I'm just worried I won't be able to sell them if they're an unknown mixture of colours.

Apparently I have been talking to myself about the existence of pyle Brahmas.

You make me laugh and I needed that this morning! My son woke me in a panic, his dog (a very stubborn heeler mix) has persistently tried to get into the chickens. Today she succeeded. I now have one cockerel left, 4 dark babies that were in a dog kennel for introduction and the dog is on its way to the dog pound. Looks like I get to start my program over AGAIN! @big medicine what should I start with, or who should I get some good partridge eggs from? I have dark eggs coming this morning, so if any hatch I'll have a few more darks.

So frustrated, at least not crying this time. Hind site is 20/20, should have gotten rid of the dog when she chased the barnyard rooster a couple of weeks ago.

So sorry you had to go through this again. Such a shame. :C

I just know it will be worth it in the end though. All this grief will just make the end that much more rewarding when you finally breed your perfect Brahma.

If it was me I believe I would back up a bit, and put my time, effort, and money, into making sure my poultry housing, and runs, were as bullet proof as I can make them. Then I would take stock of what I have in the way of birds in hand and go from there.

Thanks for the thoughts. I had the coop set up like Fort Knox. Unfortunately, his dog is very smart and very stubborn. Once she decided she wanted those chickens, she was going to get to them eventually. Tried to make the son get rid of the dog the last time I caught her out there, but he convinced me he would keep her away from them. Now he's suffering....not only realizing that his dog killed my chickens but now he has to take care of the dog. I'm sure it is tearing him up, he's had her for almost 10 years.

I'm sure it is God's will that I start over instead of trying to fix the problems that I needed to fix. Just wish He didn't make these directions so hard to take.

Can't really tell from this picture, how old are they and can you get a better picture so that we can see the whole bird?

Bumpercarr so sorry!! I feel you and your son. I hear you Big on the lack of blue brahmas at national but I just hope to maybe find some next year. I really can't add more to flock unless I remove some first. I like my EEs but still my one year olds won't accept my 12 WK. bunch. Sigh.
