Backyard Chicken Wannabe

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not really new yet...I've worked with chickens when I worked at a zoo in their barnyard area, which is where I fell in love with them, but I don't have any of my own yet....soon though!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Sadly none, but I'm planning on getting 3-5 hens.

(3) What breeds do you have?

See above. I'm really tempted to get some bantams...they're just so cute and pretty!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They're fun little critters, plus you get eggs!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I make pottery, draw, paint, sew/costume, knit, and have a lovely little veggie garden

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm a lab tech, married, and have a smart, sassy preschooler. My screen name is because I'm a capricorn, not because I have goats (which I would love to have, but don't have the property for)

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? View attachment 1638670

I've been lurking for a little while. I found out about BYC while looking up things about chicken ordinances and coop building, plus some chicken friends said you all were awesome. :)

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock! :welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for members on the BYC roost! :highfive: Chickens can be perfect for any backyards, but with my personal experience goats can be very destructive and probably require even more than an acre which was the reason I sold mine. Their behavior was a little too far unacceptable as well. That might of been because they were pygmies though.

Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
