just speaking from experience,ducks get messy. and ive lost ome ducks years ago because there area was to small so we moved to 25 acrs and havent had too many problems

Ok thanks for the infoDucks don't need 1/2 acre per duck... lol. That's what they recommend for horses, and ducks are a lot smaller!
To the OP, 3 ducks for your setup would be fine. As for how many you need, the answer is at least two. I personally like having more than that so that if you lose some to predators or illness, the remaining one won't be alone. 3-5 would probably be a good number for you based on what you've said.
