Backyardchickens.com violates Facebook community standards?? What??

The rules against sales wasn't enforced until the last year and groups have been removed for allowing it, my groups don't allow it at all and we moderate posts, the sad thing is there is a real need for rehoming special needs birds, thats where we pm and refer to here. I have a business page there, so its kind of a juggling act, some art groups that offered pet portraits were shut down because the robots picked up the terms 'sale' 'dog' ignoring the group wasn't selling dogs but art.
I know so many people who sold items on fb. Too bad they stopped that.

A guy I work with is super into straight razors (strange hobby I know) and they have issues as some of them are named after animals such as "mustang" and the robots pick it up and don't realize that it is not an animal, merely a sharp piece of metal.

That's SUPER weird! Can you try again and post (or message me) a screenshot and the exact steps you went through so I can try to duplicate it?

Were you posting to a person's wall, or in a group, or message or something else?

Was it a link to BYC's main homepage or a thread or something else?
I was posting to a group and it was the link for backyard chickens home page.

Well I certainly appreciate all the responses to this guys. :hugs
It’s been an eye opener and I like the interesting discussion.
Facebook reminds me of a social media HOA.
I’ve never been partial to HOAs lol.
I’ve been considering removing their app from my phone and this just gives more incentive to do that.
I love the friendly interaction on BYC though!:clap

It’s apparently back up and they are awful! You can’t post reasonable questions without them blocking you. I asked a question about those backyard balls that you can put chickens in and if they were safe. As a new chicken owner I assumed it was a gimmick but had lost recently lost a chicken to a hawk and wondered what others thought. The overall consensus was this it’s not safe or helpful and not to use it. Great, got good info. They removed my post so I posted again asking for tips to deter hawks. They banned me for it! All of the responses I got were helpful, respectful, and some very light hearted. Those people are nuts and shouldn’t be allowed back on FB.

Welcome to BYC! :frow Here you can try find the correct forum and ask your question. Mods will move it to a more appropriate forum if needed.

Here, you'll usually get an answer that is from someone that is experienced or knowledgable of what you're asking. Some things may have lots of different replies, but nobody is attacking anyone. If that gets done here, they'll be warned or suspended.

But in most of those FB poultry forums, I've seen people's replies attacked because they didn't align with them and seen people attack the OP calling them basic idiots because they didn't know something. They are brutal on Facebook. I use FB poultry groups to sell chicks is all. You still cannot sell animals there. You just post a picture of your chicks/chickens, and tell folks to message you if interested. That's it.

It is also not up to the groups about this. I tried posting macaw parrot tail feathers in the Marketplace and FB deleted it telling me to read the rules. I appealed, twice, explaining they naturally fall out and I save them for others who make Native American headdresses or crafts out of them. They still didn't allow it.

It's partially controlled by PETA.
