Bad Example For Kids

Yep, my 22 year long marriage is in the tank because I bought a few birds or he bought a new bow without asking "permission" first.
I'll be serving him divorce papers tomorrow because I just can't take this subterfuge any longer...

Wow...of all the things that kids can read on the internet, someone is complaining about things that are said jokingly? If a child cannot understand those inferences, they should not be on the internet in the first place - imagine all of the things that they can find that are MUCH, MUCH worse!

I'm another one with a lousy 20+year marriage that says stuff like...I'm going to the pond store now that dh's out of town. My kid who is helping me redig the pond (money, money, money) knows I'm joking, so would anyone with half a brain. Most of the kids who are on here have gotten to the half a brain stage of development.

I think that humor is one thing that makes a good marriage. If after the 20+ years we've been together, we couldn't joke about the likes, dislikes, "allows", quirks and hobbies; we would be in divorce court. That's what all of this is when people says stuff like "don't tell my hubby I have 100 eggs in the incubator" or "do chicks count as chickens, my spouse thinks they should, but I don't". Joking, not serious.

Frankly, I'm not here on BYC to educate other people's children about how marriages should be. There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to joke around a little. My boys are 9 and 10 years old and even they would be able to understand someone saying "I snuck another dozen chicks into the brooder... don't tell my spouse!", is merely joking around.
