Shoot, I live in Redding California, and would have picked them up for you!! I don't have a rooster and have a broody sitting on air to boot!

If they are still here and viable, PM me, and I will get them.

Send her a note letting her know that eggs are viable for 2+ weeks and another incubator is less than $50 at TSC. If you get them back anyway drop them in your own 'bator and attempt a hatch, you may only get 25% but then you can sell the chicks as compensation for the stress... Oh and keep the money. There is really NO such thing as a refund for hatching eggs unless the problem is on your end.

I had a lady buy a rooster from me once... for $10... 5 months later she contacted me to say that the rooster got sick a while after she took it home... she had spent hundreds at the Vet.. the rooster died... she wanted me to pay the Vet bills! She never contacted me to say the Roo was ill, was being treated or get my opinion on anything... just dropped me a note to ask me to pay the bill and made some vauge threats about litigation. I was so stressed I didn't sleep for days... then my chicken friends came to my rescue... let me know that it was a rediculous request on her part and helped me understand that the roo probably GOT sick at her place since the rest of my chickens are picture perfect healthy.

I hope we can give you that same kind of stress relief and support!

Blessings,
Melissa

I had simular problem with some eggs I had ordered on another site. The seller shipped them. I let my post office know when they were supposed to arrive, even called the post office on the day they were supposed to arrive. I was told they did not recieve them. I again called them the next day and recieved the same answer. I check the tracking online and it showed arrival in my town.. So where are they ?? Well lo and behold, sitting in my post office post the following day was a notice that they attempted to deliver them twice to my home and let me a notice to pick them up at the post office. They never attempted to deliver them to my home, maybe someones home, but not mine.. I did not blame the seller.. It wasn't their fault, the fault lay with our own small town post office. This story has a happy ending though we did have 4 eggs that hatched out of 16, but 2 of the chicks (Silkies) died shortly after hatching, the other 2 are doing good.

Its not just a small town post office, several times while I was watching the mail person put mail in our box, I would go out to find a note saying, "attempted to deliver but no one was home". I filed a complaint at the main office.
But I do agree with the not refunding part, especially if it wasn't your fault...I know it just makes us over sensitive about the ethics of our trade.

;)All it does is make me not want to sell eggs! Its easier with BYC people. I always put Del conf now. At least people know your telling the truth. What a mess!

I always agonize when I put eggs in the mail, but most of the time they get to their destination within a few days. My last shipment took 5 days though, and that really bothers me.

Good luck with future orders, and just know that you did what you were paid to do.
