So I am guessing this was a mistake but I made an egg sandwich for the wife yesterday. Basic egg omelet wrapped up with a slice of cheese on top. She did not get home in time to eat it so she put it in the fridge. I ended up tossing it to the chickens since she did not have an appetite for it. They destroyed it in a minute. A few hours later I am dealing with two chickens who are just standing there pooping every 20 min or so. They will not move. I pick them up and move them out of the rain and they just stand there.

This should pass I hope?

I don't think it was the sandwich. They could have picked something up from the environment, & just started showing symptoms.

Got pictures?

They might have eaten too much too quickly and have full crops. I'd make sure they have some grit and cut the snacks for the next few days until they feel better. I'm sure they think it was worth it!

That is the only picture I got. She was down at the end of the run just standing there alone in the light rain. I picked her up and moved her into the secure run where she just stood there and then I moved her to the entrance of the coop and same thing, stood there.

One hour later another chicken started standing motionless. Both of them had their lower eyelids up and closed....but pooping.

If you saw the movie The Crazies with Timothy Olyphant then you would get an idea what they were doing lol.

I see they are Red Sexlinks, they're prone to get reproductive diseases. How old are they? Are all the effected ones reds?

American cheese is basically hydrogenated oil so not great for chickens but shouldn’t cause anything like this. My guess is it is coincidental. Check their crops first thing in the morning to make sure they’re empty.

I should add I used to feed my chickens leftover mac n cheese often made with American cheese (I know that isn’t the proper way to make it lol but I have a picky kid) and they never acted this way after eating it
