Bad News from the Doctor

So sorry. Absolutely be proactive. There are several areas in which the medical estabishment can spend an eternity on wild goose chases and this is one of them. Google-google-read- read- read. While professional help can be needed, nobody understands or cares abut your body the way you do. Natural medicine is probably going to be the most effective.
All the best, Kate

I have horrible endometriosis, cysts on my ovaries, an entroverted uterus and Im only 18. I even have it on my bowels so pretty much since I was 11 I have had horrible stomach problems. Theres pretty much no chance of me having children. It runs in my family like crazy though. They say the only way to get rid of it is to have kids. Laparoscopies greatly help too.

I feel your pain

My SIL has Crohn's Disease and this book literally saved his life!!! Breaking The Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall http://www.crohns.net/page/C/PROD/GOT1000

He had been in the hospital on and off but mostly on for over a year... he was on 14 different meds...he was taking Rumicade treatments which have to be administered in the hospital because most people have life threatening reactions to the treatment and the doctors were about to the stage of removing most of his intestines.

My daughter found this book online and put him on this diet...within two months he was off of ALL his meds and has been symptom free for 5 years now.

It's not an easy diet to follow but for him it means the difference between life and death. They cook most of their food on the weekends and eat out of the frig during the week. My daughter is a CPA and if you've ever known a CPA you know how many hours they work and she finds the time to cook enough food on the weekends to last them for the week.

She eats the same diet he does because she doesn't allow any food in the house that's not on the diet to keep him on track. She used to have a pretty bad weight problem before they started on this diet...she wears a size 5-6 now!!

She is also and admin on one of the Crohn's forums so if you are interested and would like the information I will find out from her the web address of the site and post it for you.

Betty sounds like she has some great info for you... I would add, don't stop with one doctor if you are not getting answers. We had to keep searching till we had answers for what was wrong with one of my children. Find the best hospital with the best doctors in this field. We found that what seems very risky or rare proceedure in one hospital is very common and matter of fact at another. I will be praying, with the others.

I've dealt with Crohns for 18 years now. I'd be happy to chat with you if you have questions. Sometimes the doctors aren't so helpful.

PM me if you have questions. Everybody deals with it differently, but I can share my experiences with you.

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon.

My DH has Crohn's. You can still live a normal life with this disease, if you find out you have it.

The most important thing to do is find a specialist you can really trust, who really understands the disease and how to treat it. The best hospitals in the country for Crohn's are at the Cleveland Clinic (that's where DH goes) and the Mayo Clinics in New York and Florida, but you can find specialists that work with these hospitals all over the country.

You should also educate yourself about the disease. There is all sorts of amazing research and new medicines that are used to treat it available now, some that just came out within the past year or so.

DH is on Humira. It seems to be working well for him.
