They say real men dont cry, THATS B.S if anything aan with emotions that strong is a force to be reckoned with. That said I would def. Get a second diagnoses because I had mini pincher mix that was 13years old when they found a hole in her heart and gave her max.6months to live, glad to report she lived another 5 years happy as ever. One night she curled up on her fav.pillow and passed in her sleep, never moving from the position she fell asleep in. R.I.P HONEY Love ya

Definitely don't feel stupid for appreciating the routines and challenges you two have forged and overcome and bonded over together. It's tough knowing 'when', and hard to have that huge responsibility fall on you. Most owners seem to know when the time is right, because they can read their longtime pets so well. I usually wait until the first signs of pain/lessening quality of life when facing the decision to euthanize. So glad you two were able to share so many wonderful years with each other. That's a whole lot more than many cats get.

I recently lost my cat that I had for 14 years. The grief is real. You are losing a family member. Give yourself permission to grieve. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope she is doing okay at the moment.

We have a cat that is 16 years old. She acts like she is 16 months old. I don't know what we will do when the time comes to loose her. She was born in a box on our patio and has never left our yard or house. I know how you feel about Susie. If it was Morgan I would treat her like a queen for as long as she is eating and not suffering. Seems like a lot of folks have given you some excellent advise. Only God knows when it is time for her to hang it up. Susie will be in our prayers.

I absolutely respect you for being a grown man who cares enough about an animal to share your emotions! If it makes you more comfortable, get a second opinion. If you know/trust this vet go with his diagnosis, keep your cat comfortable and when life is no longer fun for her do what we as responsible keepers must do. I applaud you and share your pain.

I am so sorry about your cat being sick.
I had a black lab some years back who passed away due to liver cancer. When the vet told us, it was the beginning of Nov. He told us there was no cure, that we should just bring her home and love her. She was put on prednisone and something else, but I can't remember what it was now. She did fine for about 7 weeks, and then the prednisone had stopped working and the cancer was spreading. She passed away 3 days after Christmas. It]was very sad, but I am glad I had the extra weeks with her. Her is a picture of Tara - it was a few weeks before she passed away)

There is not a thing wrong with being sad about your little friend.

Sometimes it helps me to remember that they live in the moment and have no idea what is coming, even though we do...sometimes it doesn't help at all.
