I've got one chick hatched under a broody while I was gone today and she pecked it pretty bad. I've removed it, and put it in an incubator on its own, the skin is loose along the back of the skull and there's meaty bits hanging out just below that. Eyes are ok. Moves alright. I didn't treat it at all except to pick out the wood shavings so far...was wondering if I want to keep it moist or dry it up.

I have sulfur powder and I have ointments.

The other option is of course euthing, which I can do, but it seems to have hatched a healthy chick and just my dumb first time broody went nuts. I'd like to give it a chance if possible. I'll give hen one more chance and then cull her if she doesn't straighten up and fly right.
Opinions?

To to get and get some iodine. And use triple antibiotic ointment on it a couple times a day. Make sure it drinks a lot. Might also give it an electrolyte Supplement in the water. And medicated feed. Hope it recovers.

It settled pretty good for the night so I'll fix it up in the morning if it makes the night. If it doesn't, nothing I did would have helped anyway. Dumb hen. All my other Brodie's have been great so far this year... Just this one silkie. :-@

Eh. When I woke up this morning it was showing Neuro signs so I euthed it. Stupid bloody hen. She may just be my first silkie to go in the soup pot. I've heard they're tasty.

Sorry to hear but that is the nature of the beast in this industry
