Bag out of Layena package (updated w tutorial)

In our area Nutrena changed their layer feed to a 40 lb bag (not happy about that) and it does have a nice picture of a hen on it. Should make a nice looking bag be it smaller than Layena.

Here is what else you can do with all those types of bags. I have opened them up flat and sewed them together to make tarps. When it rains by me (not often) I use them as a rain cover for the run. But my next Layena bag is gonna be a tote bag!

Thanks for the picture, Jen!

I've been working on bags tonight, and am almost done with a small messenger. Didn't leave myself enough material for a handle, so I may have to go buy some of the webbing. I was practicing, so used a not-as-pretty Orscheln's yellow and olive bag for my first one. I even made a flap for the top, and want to put a snap on it for a closure. Are snaps hard? I've never done one!

I don't have a clue. I'm not even making mine, someone else is. I can't sew

Jen

Honestly? I can't sew either!! Really. I had one semester in highschool, over 25 years ago. I just sort of fake it

Nope, snaps are kind of like buttons. They aren't hard at all. Although I'm never quite as happy with the snaps I sew on myself as I am with the ones that are put on by machine. Mine never seem to hold as well. Although take this with a grain of salt since most of my snap experience has been with baby clothes and maybe they're just harder on the snaps.

I made the pink bag a few days ago! And I made one from the scratch bad a while back. It was my first one so its a bit messy. I use them to carry extra stuff for the kiddos!
