Bah! I can't sort my BCMs from my OEs.

I should have sorted these eggs before the hatch, but I didn't. At least two of them should be BC Marans...maybe four. The other 7 or 9 are just horribly-bred Olive Eggers, only one of which is a keeper and only if it's a pullet.

1. Looks like a Cuckoo Marans, so it must be an Olive Egger. I think this one also has some green in the legs, but I don't remember now.

2. This one might could be a BCM. It has some faint coppering in its wings though and I can't tell/don't remember if there's any green in those legs.

3. This little penguin face is surely not a BCM and it has green legs.

4. The little chocolate bar is cute, but useless to me.

5. This is the single "real" Olive Egger, with a pea comb.

10. I think that's a pea comb (it seems kind of a blend of single and pea) and I think this is a cockerel...

So I have three "maybe" BCMs and the possibility that the wackadoodle lady just gave me the wrong eggs and I have some Cuckoos instead. I think the "wrong eggs" theory is highly unlikely though because I hatched two Wheatens from those eggs.

Anybody see anything I'm missin'?

Hmmm, i thought wheatens could just pop up in the BCM lines (I know they breed them specifically, but I thought they were also sort of an 'accident')
I agree, #2 looks like a BCM and maybe 6
Are they about 2 weeks old?

Look at the color o the eyes If they are French Black Copper Marans they will have a "pumpkin" colored eye . Or at least all of mine do with feathered legs too !! Good luck !!!!

I'd say your funny looking (colored) ones are Olive Eggers, even if they may have a single comb - I hear that can happen. It just isn't really a good sign.

The rest I'd agree on with the breeds you labelled.

I think 2, 6 and 8 are BCM. Also, the cuckoos are looking like pullets to me. The cockeral will have way more white in the barring than the pullets.

The Cuckoos are not pure, although some do look spot-on, so no matter on the genders, they're audi.
