One of our girls has developed a bald butt, must have happened this week. Noticed her feathers were getting a bit sparse in the butt region last weekend.
Not sure what it could be? We have had a couple of stinking hot days recently.
And she used to be the boss lady in the coop and now another chicken has stolen her title. New boss lady like to pull out the other chickens butt feathers too.
Haven't pick her up yet cause she's been in the mud [IMG] but took a photo. Doesn't look red at all.

Sounds as if she is being feather picked/plucked by the new 'boss lady'. You may want to do an on site search on Pin Less peepers.

If they are becoming broody they will pluck their own feathers too.
