Thank you for the update, as one of my black sex link chicks has the same issue but seems happy and healthy otherwise. It seems to be something that happens with this particular breed, so that interesting. So glad to hear she will eventually grow feathers. I was already mentally preparing for a house chicken that wear little sweaters! lolI found this thread a few weeks ago when I was searching for answers on the the same question about my black sexlink chick but there wasn't an update about what happened to the original chick in question...so if anyone else finds this thread and are fretting... I just want to say that in my case, the chick who had the bald spot's almost 5 weeks old and she's doing great, feathering out nicely.![]()
I believe Kelsie2290's theory that it happens during hatching when some goo dries on with the shell and thereby some down gets waxed off.
