Bald spot on chicks?

I was playing with a chick and I noticed a bald spot near its neck..
any ideas why?
They are only 3 days old.

Are they broiler chicks? The develop a lot of bald areas as they grow, since their feather development lags so far behind their physical development.

Nope, they are layers. =/

It's probably still due to growth rate outstripping their feathering.

I would just keep an eye on it. As long as it is healthy skin underneath (not bloody or scabbed) I wouldn't worry too much about it.
