I took my two guineas to a farmer too because I just couldn’t do it. He showed me a little years ago so I know a couple things and that was my bedtime reading the night before the chickens came. I have helped skin a sheep and a pig so I know once I get over my squeamishness I’m ok and I have to get over it every time! Not squeamish about squirrel hunting and won’t hesitate to shoot anything that tries to have chicken dinner on my dime.

Thank you! Posted there too. We are in Saratoga county NY. Loving living in a “right to farm” county. Everyone who buys a house signs a statement saying they understand at anytime they can be living next to a farmer and having farm activities.

Love it! Yea - I was hooked the first time I saw chickens in tractor supply. Been wanting to do this for years. I was gonna wait until this spring until I saw that I could pick the date for when the chicks would come in the mail. They will be adults in December so I’ll have laying hens in the spring rather than waiting all summer. Now how to keep them safe through the winter. Open to suggestions. Jan will have us down to 5 degrees for a few days.
