Hi everyone,
just wondering if peeps out there could give some input on bantam anconas as there is not much inf out there.
Specifically on the development comparison of bantam with chicken .
I have a lone chick that is close to 9 weeks old and am hoping it‘s a pullet. It does not show much wattle growth but comb is developing although not very red.
Weather has been very hot here (40c)so unsure if that is affecting comb colour.
I previously had Ancona bantams that reached 10 weeks before being killed by unknown(dog or fox) and the roo was very obvious with big comb and wattles darker pink than current living one.

We've only had a single Ancona that I would've sworn was a roo from the way her comb developed faster and redder then the rest of our girls. Nope, totally a pullet. She was our first egg and our first broody 😁

Yes unfortunately I agree with you.Just trying to wish those suspicious looking feathers away lol as I already have a rooster…his /her father.

I used to raise Anconas but never bantams. She looks to be a pullet.
Ancona's combs and wattles develop very early, as do most Mediterranean breeds.
I once posted a picture of a 14 week Ancona pullet on our local chicken group website. One of our members asked what breed that rooster was.
Are you in Australia?

Thats a cockerel. Even for Anconas or Leghorns, that is TOO much growth for a pullet.
