Oh i missed this!! Totally interested.. so i have 2 duccles and a bantam cochin... but im thinking either a Barbu d’Everberg or/and Barbu de Grubbe for my next batch (in a decade, the house chicken house is full for the moment). But who sells them in the U.S.?? The black ones remind me of a baby crow we raised when i was a kid. ❤

100%! But they are indoor Seramas. My Japanese lived outside.

Mine are beyond spoiled and indoors too.. and demanding!

You are brave to let them sit on your furniture and rugs like that! If I know chickens, you should be ankle deep in poop right now! What witch craft are you using to keep your rugs clean lol!?

I have potty trained parrots, and started the same with the D'uccles when they were tiny chicks.. i think they think of the sofa as a nest (they knock out and cuddle down as soon as they get on it....). Now the cochin gets 15 mins, then a potty break (but i don't see her getting the training, she's a bit of the sky is falling thinking when i pick her up for toilet transfer and doesn't seem to "get" the connection).

They do have diapers if they will be out longer than about 15 mins though, although the D'uccles diapers are clean most of the time.

As for rugs, i don't know what witchcraft they use to make them, but they are super soft, but indoor/ outdoor, and nothing sticks to them.. so if there is an accident, i just spot clean real quick..

Thank you! I imagine between the belgian varieties and bantam cochins, i will have more in the future they really are so sweet.
